Engine man light flashing and car juddering a bit. Sounds as if it's missing. Could anyone give me any pointers, that would be great. Ps: it's a 1.8 petrol cheers in advance

If the lights flashing it's in limp home mode hence the juddering and missing.
It might not be serious but i wouldn't drive it far if i were you.
Check all electrical connections and plugs leads etc.

A cheap fault code reader (assuming freelander 2001 onward) will help you out. Could be a faulty coil pack.

Many thanks for that, will a fault reader read the code even if the light is not on? Cheers

Yes if a fault code has been stored - as the light was only flashing its not guaranteed but worth checking

By far the most common reason for a 1.8k putting EML on is Misfire.

Check the basics ; plugs , leads , coilpacks (or god forbid one of those archaic dizzys).

What I meant was, does the air box and throttle body have to come off to get to the plugs? Cheers

no just undo the two screws on the cam cover
