My 1991 200tdi has some pretty bad engine knock, but only when it's warmed up; sounds fine when cold. As the revs come down it lessens off a bit too. I'm thinking it could be the timings out?
Oil pressure gets low when warmed up and idling too, although that happened before the knocking started. Pressure is fine when i get the revs up.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best to video the engine with the noise present and post it up on youtube, theres so many things it could be, but low oil pressure is not a good sign

Sounds like bottom end overhaul required. Timing can cause a knock but unlikely. Do you have any smoke coing from the exhaust? Correct oil in?

Makes a lovely big cloud on startup, and when under strain. Oil should be fine, it does have a minor leak however

Try moving the pump timing through the plate on the timing case . you have nothing to loose but the low oil pressure is a bad sign . cheapest way will be find a disco engine and swap parts over

I'll give it a go when the rain clears up, failing that what are the other possibilities? I was planning to rebuild the engine anyway, although I was hoping to do it in the summer...

Its hard to believe from the vid that it is actually a tdi!
Have you tried cracking each injector pipe in turn when at idle?
