Hi there!

Following a leaky fuel injection pump I have just got round to putting in a new one;

After doing this it idled up fine but once I accelerated in neutral it accelerates fine for approx 5 sec then either stalls or idles very lumpily;

I have checked the unions coming into the FIP and the engine and both seem to have diesel flowing out when loosened. The diesel return line however doesn't return anything at idle then there is some diesel returning as the engine's rpm's increase.

I have checked the timing again.

Any ideas what it could be? any help much appreciated!

Where is that smoke coming from? You can just hear the turbo spooling up then see the smoke before it cuts
 
The smoke is coming from between the turbo and the exhaust because one of the exhaust studs doesn't work.

I don't think it has anything to do with my problem

When you say you fitted a new pump was that a new/reconditioned one or a second hand unit? if second hand did you see / hear it running before it was removed?
 
Air is getting in, its nearly always the cause and people always say their pipes are okay, then they look and lo and behold they are not!
So start from the tank and work your way up to the lift pump then the inj pump, before the lift pump its a vac leak after lift pump its a pressurised system.
Basically if it was okay before its something you have done
 
The pump was second hand not reconditioned and I hadnt heard it running.

I will check the pipes for a leak thanks
 
May be worth while popping the top off the boost actuator and checking the fuel pin hasnt seized, 4 screws, mark the rubber diaphragm turn the rubber a couple of times and pull it out, fuel pin is at the bottom of the hole.
Mine started to seize from serious water ingress, stupid design, whole engine can be made waterproof but the inj pump has a breather to atmosphere!
