will check when start it later and let you knowDoes the engine management light illuminate during the light test when turning on the ignition?
good call - no it doesn't come on when turning on ignition.will check when start it later and let you know
We need someone with a 1.8 petrol to confirm their engine management lamp illuminates when the ignition is turned on. It did on my v6. I would eggspect it to on others.good call - no it doesn't come on when turning on ignition.
So you suspecting the power for at least part of the ecu comes via the sensor and the fault is maybe further up the loom (or in ecu) when the sensor is connected

That's good then. So at least you know the new O2 sensor will solve the blowing fuse issue. No engine light, started eng, turned off restarted engine ok ie fuse no longer blowing.
The MIL is an LED, which don't normally blow. However someone might have messed with it, although as you've been the only owner, that's unlikely. Will have it fitted tomorrow and they will check if bulb has gone or is there an ecu related problem.
an updatewill keep you all posted but it will be 2nd week in Nov

It depends on the engine fitted. But following the thick battery positive wire will show you where the starter is. The small connector on the starter can corrode, causing your issue.
I've marked the terminals on the picture. Corrosion on the thin spade connector is the likely cause. View attachment 192717
