disco 2 td5 not mapped all of a sudden today it cuts outs it will rev up to about 2700 then engine light comes on and cuts out straight away then if you turn ignition off give it a minute it will fire striaght back up runs fine untill you rev it up. if you try and fire it back up straight away wont restart havent had a chance to plug it in so see fualt codes will be doing tomorrow

unplugged maf no difference
cleaned map sensor no difference
checked fuel filter wasnt full of **** havent got a new one yet
cleaned out fuel pump in tank there was a little bit a grit/**** but nothing to mean anything no sludge or anything
air filters clean

im guessing overboost or crank sensor but wont know till its been plugged in
any one else had problem like this before have searched cant find anything

Check intercooler hose for delaminating. Sounds like the type of issue it can create if your intercooler hoses are old and soft.

I don't think that would put the engine light on, and I have had overboost, it just puts you into limphome mode and no engine light, so I'd go for crank sensor, without a diagnostic, but the obvs thing IS a diagnostic as with the engine light on and cutting out to protect itself it should have codes to be read.

On Eu2 engines only the CPS or TPS can trigger the EML, on Eu3s it can show itself if the fuel pressure is low as well cos low pressure can cause a false driver demand fault code which normally can be triggered only by the TPS, a quite common issue when CPS related code is present is a problem with the connector not always the sensor itself

Whip the crank sensor out and spray it with brake cleaner. I had a similar problem and I orderd a new one. Tried cleaning it and that was 6 months ago. New one still in the draw!

I'm sure that the problem was with a bad contact in the connector and you fixed it by jiggling with the plug when you removed/refitted the sensor cos cleaning an inductive variable reluctance sensor with spray has the same effect like a massage to a wooden leg

It’s the heat from the exhaust that damages the crank position sensor.
Whip the crank sensor out and replace it.

Maybe but it was covered in muck

turns out it was the ecu top switch logged as failed second hand ecu on and it runs like a dream
