Has anyone here done an engine swap? I'm mot thinking landrover motors more like the GMC V8 Diesel or the Iveco 2.8 TD

out of the two choises i'd go with the iveco , gmc would be heavy as hell ... also was'nt there a lot of bad press with the gmc ????

never had anythin to do with either engine but i'd go iveco ..... good engines in wagons ...

People used to fit a gmc engine in rangerover classics,it was somthing like a 6.2 v8 from what i remember

My old boss had one of these put in his Classic to replace the 3.9. Sounded lovely, pulled like a train, cooked torque converters....

Plus there was some sort of an issue with the gearing, as the V8 diesel would only rev to around 3000 rpm but then again this was probably an auto box thing, maybe the shift up points??

wonder how you got on with your conversion. i put a toyota 1kz engine in to a range rover & couldnt believe how well it went & how nice it sits & looks under the bonnet

There's a couple of converions on youtube. One is a fender with a cummings engine sounds pretty cool, and pulls for fun. Other was a 90 with a combine perkins engine in.

Back in the 80s there were loads of engine conversions on the Range Rover classic. Mostly diesels, big and small. But since then, the standard engines for the RRC and following on, Disco, have been pretty good so no real need. 2.0MPi excepted, of course.....
