pricey

hello all
i am after info on how difficult it is to put a 200tdi disco engine into a series 3 any help is much appreciated
cheers

i gather the engine is the easy bit - its the rest of the transmission and brakes which are more of a prob.

 Where do I begin ? I have a 200 Tdi out of a disco in my series 3, and there were quite a few obstacles to overcome,
:- in order to keep the series 3 front end, I did away with the viscous fan and fitted a kenlow push fan that I put in front of the rad.
:- I used my series rad, as it was almost new.
:- Because the disco rad incorporates the oil cooler I now need to get hold of a 13 row oil cooler.
:- The turbo on the disco Tdi sits lower down in the engine than that of a defender Tdi, which is a pain because the series chassis is narrower than a defender and the down pipe would rub on the chassis, to prevent this I had to sit the engine slightly off centre, this was done once mated up to the gearbox.
:- Just noticed today that the front prop shaft has been rubbing on the breather pipe from the oil sump, it has worn the props gaiter away and grinded a chunk out of the pipe, so I need to sort that before its totally buggered.
:- I had to have the engine mounts made up, as niether the series or disco mounts were suitable.
:- the battery had to be repositioned and now sits under the passenger seat on a fabricated shelf.
I was advised not to go for such a torquey engine with the standard drive train, but I'm going to suck it and see, providing I remember to be gentle with the right foot it should be OK ?
All in all if I had the choice again I would try and get a defender Tdi as the transplant is much more straight forward,
Hope this helps, if you need any further info, just shout up.
(ps where abouts do you live, I'm near Chesterfield, Derbys)
Nick.
