We have got the engine to here but the hoist won't go higher.

Trying to think of a way to support it so can remove levelling device and shorten distance to jib.

just use a short chain or strop between the 2 lifting points on the engine

Remove wheels and lower vehicle perhaps ?

Prop it up with some timber can you also put the pin through links closer to hook

The cylinderf head was already off so bolted plates onto the vacant holes. in the end lowered it back down, took the leveller off and it did the trick. Thanks for the replies. I took the radiator and the next cooler off. Did I need to do that?

Good idea I think to get the rad out of the way easily damaged if something bumps into it
Take plenty of pics as you remove bits helps when putting it back together

i dont bother with a leveller just use a chain the links act as stops so you can alter precise point of lift

Mine lifted fine on a length of rope

'Course, putting it back is a hell of a lot easier if you don't have the body in the way!
