Diagnostics and never pressure/steam clean a Range Rover engine, esp. the V8's

Petrol or diesel? If diesel, check the connector to injector number 4.

+1, I cleaned my engine after spill pipes leaked (with Gunk and low pressure water hose) and fecked everything up. Inlet manifold off, use air line to blow everything off, open all connectors and dry with a hair dryer, spray with contact cleaner, leave it to dry then the hair dryer again. I opened up the plastic wiring cover that runs along the side of the engine and dried that as well. After many attempts, diagnostics (which showed "injection begin sensor") and phone calls (thanks Wammers and Mozz) I changed the No 4 injector and all is now well. Good luck :)

thank you all it is a diesel so will try injector no4 yet again datek and others help to keep the old gals running

Also check and dry out the main plug from the injection pump to the loom. If there is no loss of performance it is not the number four injector.
