Hey everyone, Im currently working on my project range rover. Its a 1990 classic 3.9 V8 and the plan is to convert it to a 300tdi auto, also im planning to bobtail/ pick up the back end.
Im not so worried about doing the bobtailing as im a sheet metal fitter but im part way through the engine change and was looking for some hints/tip or ideally a play by Play guide from some one who has already done the conversion?

any help is much appreciated

its quite an easy conversion as parts from disco were the same as rrc,you will need to cut old engine mounts off the chassis and fit ones for the 300 tdi ,which you can get from donor vehicle if your getting one ,every thing else will just bolt on

I've had the new engine mounts fabricated and have spoke to a chap who did the same conversion so putting the new engine in shouldnt be the hard part. Im worried about the Electrics, what to take out, what to leave in ect

just pull ecu and loom out its a stand a lone system,v8 engine loom can be modded to fit 300 ie coil feed becomes stop solenoid feed ,you can buy rrc temp sender to fit thermostat housing as they differ between models ,remove tank/pump sender unit and mod it so pumps replaced by pipe

Taking the ecu & loom out sounds fine, the rest a bit above me im afraid. Im a mechanical engineer so anything electrical may as well be alien to me! i'll stick to the nuts an bolts an i'll get an electrician friend to do the rest!!
