hi guy, ive been writing a few post today just few things i want to know lol:) what would be the best way to get my engine bay looking brand new again the previous owner i think did some serious off roading and the bay is totally splattered in dirt and everything else, what would i use thanks again

mike;)

ive heard steam cleaning can be bad for engines ?

what i use is autoglym engine cleaner/de greaser spray,a good brush/scub off any proper mud etc and on plastics with soapy water, cover electrics with cling film etc, and spray the whole bay with the stuff, then a gentle hose off , comes up a treat ! (good for all car engine bays)

Probably bad if you do it on a hot engine as it'll raise the temp more and could damage it

But using it on a cold engine I'd say it should work pretty good, seen it done before and it cleans fast

yeah i was thinking steam cleaning it but am bit concerned bout the electrics or damage to engine or other parts i want to get it back to new condition which is a bit of a mammoth task considering the state that it is in but just need to way up some options first

Gunk, elbow grease and a power hose, protect the electrics and give it plenty time to dry off.

gunk?? could you be more specific lol oh aye i thought it would require alot of elbow grease which i got plenty of lol just waiting for a good day to get stuck in

i know this sounds really thick and stupid but how would i go about steaming it lol im really new to this but really interested in learning everything about looking after car and the mechanics too lol

Just a household steam cleaner, cost about £50 for a big one or much less for a tiny one

We've got a large one for steam cleaning carpets and it works on everything, low pressure means you don't damage things like the rad and the heat and mild pressure help to dissolve and shift grime

Hot girl, windows closed, secluded car park

well i got a steam cleaner but its not very good to be honest think i may need to invest in a half decent one really, but its a start anyways, blue beasty very funny and true but im married so that doesnt happen anymore haha:ballchain::ballchain:

wouldnt it be easier to go and get it steam cleaned .hot pressure wash ,after spraying with paraffin or similar first
