OK, I will get standard sizes for both.
Another rookie question - the nuts on the bearing shells should also be replaced, I assume. Are they ERC1027?
its not essential ,if nuts look good id reuse and use some loctite stud lock as i do with all internal bolts etc

As a follow-up - today I replaced all the big end bearings and six of the main bearings (the seventh is not really accessible without taking the engine out). I will take it for a drive tomorrow to see if I notice any difference... ;)
But what surprised me was that of the main bearings all lower shells looked like the one I posted here, but the top ones were much less used - is this normal or should I take this as an indication that something is wrong? "much less used" means that most of them show barely any copper, only the first one (front of the engine) looked nearly as bad as the bottom ones...

Thanks again for all your help!

if you think about it the pressure on the main bearings is downwards so its usually the lower bearing that is worn, but on the conrods the top shell is the one that will be the most worn

Yeah, this makes sense. I guess I just would not have expected it to be this strong.

Is there any reason why I should not wait too long before replacing the 7th main bearing? Are six new ones nearly as good as seven, or is this nearly as bad as no new ones? (in other words, will the new ones dominate over the old one or vice-versa?)
