I will tell you one thing go have a look if he has put fan rad air manifold on ect your being charged to put that on and take it off and any decent place would of put enough on to fire it up and check without having to remove it all again ;) so don't pay query that ....

just a mute point but if emmetts sold yu this pump and didnt have second one, how did them wanting yo old one back, cause yu a delay?

Probably not the right thing to do, but on gear type pumps I have even used a bit of light grease:eek:

Yes as long as it is not solid with it. Just to give it a bit of suction for the initial pull. I have seen a few oil pumps fitted dry that would not draw from the sump. I was told always to prime them no matter what so i have never had one fail. But i would never fit a pump of unknown quantity without having a look at it first. It is silly not to. Personally i think the mechanic has just dropped it in dry, but you can't prove that. Depending how it was stored, todays oil being like **** it would run out and leave the pump dry.

In my experience scrap yards/breakers always mark the parts before sending them out. That's so that they can be sure its their parts if returned. Emmotts are no different. Return their part & I'm sure they will exchange/refund.thats simple enough.
All your other moans are your issues because your plan didn't work. **** happens, get over it.
I used Emmotts recently, didn't go perfectly to plan but can't fault their efforts to resolve.

PS - it was partly my fault but I'm big enough to admit it.
