Just had my 19J fail its MOT on emissions. Should be maximum 3 and is currently 4.3.
It has a new diesel and air filter. The mot guy says to find out how to adjust the fuel and bring it back and he will alter it.
I also had the injectors cleaned and set up.

So, where is the fuel adjustment screw?

Thx.

Helps to give it a good blast down the road at 3000 rpm to blow all the crud out of it before you enter the MOT.

Done the thrash down the road for 30 mins to no avail. Is it possible to adjust the fueling and if so where is the adjustment.

undo the fuel metering screw on rear of
pump and go out 1/4 turn at a time until smoke dissappears .
youll have to strike balance between power and smoke and so it may take
a few attempts to get satisfactory .

this screw is on rear of pump near the injector pipe unions , it has a
13mm locknut and a screwthread extending out about 25mm , there is
screwdriver slot in end of thread , you hold locknut loose with spanner
and then unscrew or screw the thread in or out as desired .
IN for more fuel, OUT for less .

Thx for all of this.

I took the injectors out and two were ok, one leaked and was popping at 1500 instead of 2000 and the other was leaking at 1200.
I stripped them down and re seated the needles with some Brasso, adjusted the pop offs to 2000 and the MOT man records no smoke in his test this morning.
It also idles and runs much better.
For a 19J I am impressed with performance and starting. It’s in a 110.

One of the best things that I bought was the pop off tester….

Thx again for all of the suggestions.
