was gonna rebuild the 6.2 gmc v8 in brb this xmas..bits here from states..

feckin enginnnering shop have LOST a con rod nut!!(discovered just now while reringing pistons!!)

need chevy con rod nut,,m10 x 1mm pitch

where i get before xmas!!??????

was actually there today, buying some unc bolts..

but they dont keep instock the really odd stuff.usually we have to order in special from them (work use them).ie extra finemetric..but hey worth a try..

the problem is con rod nuts are extra "tall" and have a small outer dia..ie 14mm spanner size compared to 17mm ..

fingers crossed though..i still hopping mad that the shop lost the nut...totally (if no luck) fecked my plans...wanted to either get the gmc running or swap it out fir the boosted 4.6 this holiday boring period!

they dont employ skilled people here now ,youd be surprised how many times i have to help the local supplier out
 
thanks to all.!!Espically Mark..

now know no one in the uk stocks metric extra fime 10 grade nuts..real steel included..

however found one and will have tomorrow..proper gmc one at that..so 6.2 turbo will be alive! and no dought for sale due to 4.6 supercharged..offers over 1000 please
 
did you find why it was smoking like a bitch?

machine shops stuck , both the new skimmed heads and brand new pistons have come back with dinks on them, some quite big!
 
could be mate, the local one gave my the other heads back just in bits dumped in a box :(
 
few dinks but it could have been from when the pressed the gudgeon pins in at the machine shop as I never unwrapped them between, there was one right on the edge of the crown but not much I can do about it now lol
