Take no heed of Goldie, I played with mine when I got it, as did ALL of us.:D:D
You may be onto something if it was NOT played with regularly, I believe there is a dryer in the system to remove moisture, whether it is the cause and whether it's a cleanable or service item I can't say.

Hate to say it, but 2002 is along time ago and it has a rather complex system, at least from a layman's perspective, air bags are a breeze compared to dealing with reservoir valve body gubbins, crosslink valves, height sensors etc.

Btw I did jump start my mx5 the night before all of this. Could that of had an impact ?

Could well be but impossible to say ATM. Did you carefully follow the correct procedure in the handbook whilst using it as the donor??
Have to be very careful with the L322 the electrics are very fragile and delicate.

HTH

I didn't follow the procedure. Just clipped on and started the mx5

It's a hard lesson to learn and hopefully you'll get an easy fix but for future reference, the L322 is a moody, tempermental, high-maintenance type of girl. Take your introductions slow and easy , learn her little foibles and you will have a happy life. Treat her like a 'normal' wellies and wax jacket 4x4 and she will turn on you like a crocodile with toothache. Good luck and welcome to the club ;)

Yours must be stuck in disembark mode, that will be hard and also why you have the speed restriction.
Is there not a button on the drivers door for that mode or am I mistaken, from memory I thought you had to pre-engage that mode which lowers it fully to allow easy egress once stationary???

I was planning on driving to France over Xmas? Is there any risk to ignoring the message? Will it be bad for the car?

Google and youtube have good info on this. Tells you how to reset with a quick battery clamp removal.

Update:

Drove it to RGB 4X4 - The guy hooked it up and it came up with a message regarding 'Too much energy...
He Reset the system, it went up but then you could hear the hissing from Driver's front airbag.

He will replace front Drivers Strut for 80 quid. Fitting a 'Delph' version. Charging me 80 quid. Seems reasonable.

Do you think i should do both? Would obviously rather save 300 quid and not do the other one..

That is very cheap for a Delphi strut so may just be the air spring itself which is still a good price whatever the brand or it is second hand...
If it is a new spring and the dampers are ok then i would fit two new ones.
The too much energy is it just trying too hard to pump up an air spring with a hole in it

Not too shabby a result...imo.
However I'm somewhat confused over the maths, ie. £80 to fix the leaky side but £300 to do both?

Edit; Ah wait, I see it now, £80 for the bag plus £80 fitting, per side.
Danger to the wallet is if you need shocks as well, what with the rise in inflation..ahem;)
