Well after several dunkings alot of my electrics no longer work properly so my plan is to strip back as much as i can and do some new wiring for the stuff thats in..

basically wanting to remove, window motors, wing mirror, rear wiper motor, interior lights heaters (will eventually have a new heater in), stuff like that..

so basically im left with engine starting etc, lights, horn yader yader yader,

any body ever done this or have any clues as to where to start, do the 300tdis have an ecu that will freak out when i remove stuff?

The job your wanting to do involves a lot more work than you think. its not just wires into a switch its all routed through the fuse box and some through different sorts of relays.
A 300tdi dosnt have a ecu the the throttle is controlled by cable. by rights if im correct you could strip all the electrics apart from the ignition system ie. glow plugs starter motor etc and everything would run sweet as a nut.

But if i were you i wouldn't want to remove the wiring id want to figure out why its not going. 300's should be able to go submarineing all day and not have a problem. ive done a fare bit of wading with my td5 defender and everything runs by the ecu. never had a problem with water damage (touch wood)

iv had water up and on the inside (quite high crappy door seals) so i think alot of the relays may be screwed but tbh its a toy so not too fussed about "nice" electrics, i may try all new relays 1st and go from there,

one im really stumped on is after i had engine out and removed all cabling (rather than cutting) is that i cant get power to the fuel pump or the glow plugs. so iv over ridden this with a switch which helps with security too.

Hi Paul you don't say which configuration of Disco you've got?

TDi/V8/TD5 + manual or autobox +model year?

If you remove the electrics for the windows surely you will be fitting a manual set? You would look silly if you get stuck while playing and the door won't open?

My vote paul is a custom rewire, minimal relays.

Carling switches are good for 20A which handle most stuff easily.

Will take a while and you'll need to be savvy with auto electrics but it'll be great once done

Zero unwanted security features or daft electronics, and plenty of reliability

Actually thinking about it, get a 200 loom and strip it down, most of it you will keep anyway

Trust me brother, SOOOOOO much simpler I promise you, we have 1 fuse box and around 10 relays, and very easy to strip the loom down.

its finding one thats not been molested thats the issue, been trying to do same witha 300, but people dont have the patience, they just cut cables lol...

iv not had much to do with wiring but i can learn ( i have everything else) i push buttons for a living lol

Pull your loom out put it on the floor and copy it, my mate used to make f1 looms.. very nice lookng kit work when done right
But I have to say it would not be cheap doing it this way.. lots of connectors (unless you reuse the old) and lots of copper wire!
