Hello everyone!
I’ve got a bit of a odd one but I need some help with my discovery 2 td5.

Ive had a bit of a electric issue for some time now and it all started with some very bad trailer socket wiring on the previous owners behalf which has shorted out on me and made a little fire in my interior fuse box / idm, I have recently had it repaired as I know you can’t just get another one as different parts numbers won’t work cause of the BCU etc, I’ve plugged my repaired idm back in and now the cluster background light is always on even when the light switch is off, my right indicator is constantly on, left indicator doesn’t work, low beam doesn’t work and when I turn on my full beam the cluster light doesn’t tell me it’s on full beam, radio and digital clock turns off when the light switch is turned off, side lights doesn’t work and the rear night time running lights don’t work.

I swapped over with another part number internal fusebox and it’s basically the same but the high beams work fine with the cluster and all…

any help will be much appreciated as I’m a little stuck now, I thought it could be my light switch done bad but I’m not too sure, I’ve look and the engine bay fusebox and the BCU for anymore burned out plugs and wires and have tested them both with a multi meter to see if they send power out of them and they do.

Any help or advice to do next will be appreciated as I’m a little stuck now.

Hi, it's not so radical though. The part numbers are not so important in this case, important is to use a box removed from the same modell which means facelift or not, as you described the symptom your "repaired' fusebox was not well repaired and the replacement is not from the same modell so get a proper fusebox which is 100% in working order before chasing other problems... you have to disconnect the battery befofe the swap and after the swap and battery reconnection let ignition on 2 for 5 minutes or you can mix up the IDM/BCU relation... If a correct fusebox doesnt cure things we'll speak then

to ientify which part numbers are OK see the list here https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/L5.L5D.L5D05.L5D05005/brand/land-rover/ and you can use any of the superseded parts as long as they are within the proper VIN range where your vehicle fits in

I put a fusebox from another car that I believe was fully working part number for that one was YQE000251 and my fusebox is YQE000410, I’m not sure how to see which one will work, I think there repair is the problem but it’s not 100% yet

So, the 000251 is not good, you can see that if you open the + signs of the fusebox in the link i posted, 000251 is for facelifts beyond VIN wich ends with 3A771052 not working well instead of 410 which is up to VIN .... 2A771052 probably your case and you can use only those superseded by 410 so one of the following(all with YQE prefix): 103320, 103830, 000110, 000250 , fit a proper one and i have the feeling that it willbe OK then

Okay I’ve ordered YQE000250 and it has 60 day warranty on it so I will get back to you when it arrives to let you know the outcome, thank you for all the help!!

Hi, I’ve been looking in to the link you sent me and it might be a problem using the older ones as my vin ends with 2A743682…
Looks like the only compatible one I can use is the original 410, please correct me if I’m mistaken?

Hi, as SF says you should be able to use any fuse box from non facelift models. As far as I can see from the link all the previous p/no's (ending 110/250/320/830) superceed to the p/no ending 410 (so in theory they should work;)).
The p/no that ends in 251 is for the facelift models c/no 3A771052 onwards which won't work.

You are mistaken, Andy Warren explained well why and i told you in my first reply too, the 000250 should work OK and if it doesnt we can speak about other faults as the fusebox is ruled out, provided it's 100% OK as there is a certain risk with used parts so we must believe the seller that it was functional when it was removed

Hi, okay thank you both so much! This is my last theory as the car was working fine before my old fusebox decided to crap itself hence the doubt, it’s been a few months with this issue so I really just want this sorted ones and for all! Big thanks again and I’ll get back to you guys to say if it worked or not

Hi guys, just to give you a updated about the issue, I’ve installed my yqe000250 fusebox and it hasn’t 100% worked, I waited 5 minutes to wait for the immobiliser light to go out but my right indicator is still staying on flashing without it switched on and my left indicator isn’t working at all and now I’ve got a new problem and that’s my wiper blades that only turn on when switched off and turns off when I turn it on, I believe everything else now works.

I been looking at the electrical diagrams and I have got a feeling it’s header k109 and header k108 that has been burned out the same time the fusebox, does anyone know the location of these?

K109 k108 are the type of header you should have a C00 connector number View attachment 267299

Hi, if the issues with this fusebox are all the same with the original one i'm affraid that you'll have to rule out the BCU too cos the indicatprs and vipers are managed by that too

I’ve installed the new fusebox and all issues have gone away but the right indicator is still staying on flashing and I’ve got not left indicator and now the front wiper blades only work when switched off and turn on when switched on, washer jets don’t work at all…
I’ve chased the indicator wires and it’s fine going in to the interior fusebox but doesn’t come back out, I’ve unplugged the plug that the wires go too and nothing but I’ve got 2 pins that doesn’t go anywhere which is pulling 12 bolts from the fusebox on the same plug both are next to the 2 indicator wires, I was thinking maybe take the 2 indicator wires out of the plug and plug them in the unused pins of the same plug so the wires get 12 volts, would this be okay or would it short out? I got my burned out plugs from a facelift d2 so I was thinking maybe they are on a different pin from the old d2?

Hi again! Just a quick update I’ve been chasing wires all day regarding the indicators and I found the issue … ready? … the master switch, the indicator tab was broken and so it couldn’t switch indicators, one has been ordered, just need to find out what’s going on with the wipers, was working fine in the 251 fusebox but not this one so BCU can be ruled out thank god, what can I check?

do you still have the 251 fusebox? if yes try with that again and if the vipers are working the problem is with the 250 fusebox cos the viper circuits are the same, the differencies are with the SRS and illumination circuits

Yes I’ve got both 410 repaired fusebox and 251, I will try that but if you don’t mind me asking what does SRS stand for? And what do you mean illumination circuits? If it is the 250 fusebox what’s the next best plan of action to do? Get the 110 fusebox? Or would I need a 100% working 410?
