Please help required, I have a N reg 95/96 110 landy with an electrical fault on Fuse3 ( indicators/gauges and rear washer ) with the 15amp fuse in and ignition on all 3 feeds to source work fine with no issues as soon as I start the engine the fuse pops, the landy is fitted with LED lights all round just for info
Has anyone encountered this problem before.

I'll assume standard 300TDI at that age? Does it blow when you put the switch to crank or can you start it then the fuse blows? There isn't any real electrical changes that take place between ignition on and then with it actually running, however there is engine vibration. I would suspect you have a chaffed wire somewhere and the engine vibration is causing it to short out. I would be tempted to put a new fuse in, turn ignition on (engine stopped) and put an indicator on. When it is in that configuration go around all the cable looms you can see in the engine bay and give them a gentle wiggle in all directions, if the indicator stops then the fuse will have blown and whatever you were wiggling at the time should be close to the chafe point.

Hi there thanks for the info, it is a standard 300tdi apart from a new wiring loom and led kit, I did try and trace the loom wiring looking for bared cores but to no avail, I will try with the ignition on and indicators on using the wiggle test, that seems a better idea

Check wiring where it exits the chasis under the car, there may be a chaffed cable rubbing against the chasis.

Evening guys, just an update.
I've cleared the fault at last, the air box had sheared its mountings and was bearing down on the loom and 3 plug couplers so causing a dead short i quess, ive temp secured the air box back in position a bit of maintenance to do but the circuits are up and running, many thanks for your help.

Thanks for the update, always the silly l'ill problems that cause the biggest headaches. Glad to hear you got it sorted.
