Funny you should say that. After dismantling everything this evening the root cause of my issue is the drivers side wheelbox. It is a little stiff, and having freed it up and got it moving nicelt with no wiper arm fitted, once reassembled the cog wheel slips on the cable if there is any resistance (wiper on screen) so a "new" wheel box for me. I hope I have one in my box of rebuild parts because form memory when I stripped the bulkhead it had the later style wheel boxes which I couldnt use and needed the early style.It is also worth checking that the wiper arm spindle rods are not starting to seize in their tubes causing electrical over load.
interestingly mine had not blown the fuse, so despite jamming to the point of the mechanism being stationary the fuse did not blow which I thought was strange. I have the correct rated fuse fitted.Tomorrow I will check the fuses and fuse box once more. Keep you updated
