Hello, got a little problem with the electric windows on my 1991 200 Discovery, the problem is sometimes when i put any 1 of the 4 windows up, that window will go up slowly and the other windows seem to go down slowly. Starting to get very aggravating. Please help.

somethings not right there, how fat are your fingers?
you're not pressing the other switches too are you?

I'd defintely say you got an earth problem with the switch panel for the window switches.

My windows go down on their own sometimes, (TD5), but I think it's because there's a large black Lab stood on the switch!?!

Hth!

very simple switch wiring on the 200s, no electronics at all.

useful wiring diagram in the back of haynes.

i experienced very bizarre and muddled window operation when i forgot to connect the window earths.

these earths are bolted down to the tunnel right at the very very back, basically under the ashtray at the back of the console.

if you undo the 4 screws under the cubby box/bag, pop the handbrake gaitor out, slide the switch panel over towards the handbrake and undo the screw underneath there, unscrew both gearknobs and remove the gaitors and rubber mat and undo the two screws near the radio, disconnect the handbrake cable and lift out the centre console, you will have good access to the wiring, and those earths at the back.

you do not need or want to disconnect the window wiring plugs from the switches, just pass the panel through the hole.

cheers!

Wish that was the reason for mine, get a lot of moans from in the back, when on the motorway, when i put my window up, the over 3 go down!

Well, hopefully sorted Mr Noisy . Removed earths, cleaned and refitted last night. Been out and about in the car today, not messed about once. So fingers crossed....... Thanks for all advice.
