I have just tried to fit new cables to my Electric window, Driver side.

ARRRHHHH - Not going to try that again, Now i've ordered a complete set and will be fitting it once it arrives..

Anyone else ever tried doing the wire kit? Any joy?

If so how?

Tried it once - no good fer me.

Have used the kits with all the nipples attached, both 2 years ago and running fine. Think that some kits are better than others

Agree that some kits may be better than others. I went for complete mechs on both front doors - no issues since.

Had my Freelander a month now and both rear windows needed new cables within a week of each other. I bought two, one off Amazon for £17 and one off ebay from Germany for £13 both included postage. The German one was better in that the plastic clips fitted better and was cheaper, however both were fitted in under an hour each and now work perfectly. Awkward door access for smaller hands and when the final twist of the spool is needed, an extra hand is needed to make it easier. All in all both done for £30 so pleased

Bought the stainless cable and nipple kit...not at all impressed and didn't bother with it.
I then bought the cable kit which comes complete with guides, gears and spool and found it to be fine. There is a video on You Tube showing how to fit it.
I found that it was awkward at first, trying to "Fight" against the spring pressure but overcame that by using a couple of pairs of small vice grips to lock the cable in place with the springs compressed and wind the cables around the spool. I also gave the cables a coat of grease before refitting.
If the motor is good, I see no reason why these kits should not be used.
:):)

Have a look at this..........
