Thanks for all the ideas.
I have a control knob that moves the mirrors as expected and does deflect downwards when set to the middle position.
I need to get this mirror foldback module. I can't find it on any of the Land Rover parts supplier websites. Think I will call the dealer on Monday and see if I can at least get the Land Rover part number. Maybe I can then locate one online.

I owe you a pint for that part number. Several on eBay. Since it seems to be a Ford part I think I will contact a local Ford dealer for a price. If too high will buy used. Don't want to spend too much on a test.

ur so welcome and pleased the part number is useful to u , as u say parts are fitted to several other vehicles, indeed was made by ford

great that you’ve made some progress and plse let us know how u get on

once again always a pleasure to help where possible, always a forum team effort in being able to pass it on so to speak

I went to two different Ford dealers and they tell me that relay is no longer carried. One said it was used in Ford F150 pickups from 2002 until 2004. Ford must have given them all to Land Rover to use in 2005 LR3. Will have to buy a used one.

fingers crossed ur be able to find it considerably cheaper

just hope the above is helpful to u and before I forget assume they haven’t moved for some time wouldn’t hurt to get some silicone type spray to ensure they move back and forth freely

ps, hope u didn’t mind me adding , I worked in New York , Long Island for a few years and was taught underfloor heating by several Canadians , they were so nice to me and extremely helpful with all the layouts, controls etc of UFH and hydronics, so with that so nice to pass it on so to speak as I’ll never forget there kindness

Before spending any money on the power fold relay, I'd be removing a tweeter cover to make sure all the wiring goes to the mirror. If there's no fold wiring plugged into the mirror, it's never going to fold.

A power fold mirror has 2 plugs on the little harness attached to the mirror, whereas a manual fold has just 1 plug.
