According to the owners manual I managed to find online I am supposed to be able to fold the outside mirrors of my 2008 LR3 by centreing the mirror adjustment knob and then pushing it downwards. Nothing happens when I do this. The knob does adjust the position of the mirrors and I can push it downwards but no joy.

Any ideas? Is there a particular fuse for this?

Power fold wasn't fitted to all models, so before you go looking for a fault, you need to check the vehicle is equipped with that function.
Do they fold when you lock it? If not it probably isn't fitted with power fold mirrors.
Just because it's in the handbook, doesn't mean it's actually fitted to the vehicle.
 
D3/4 never had powerfold mirrors on locking the car. It's manual only via the mirror switch as described.

D4 definitely does have fold when locking, the mirror fold on lock/unlock is option in the CJB CCF menu, although it would require power fold mirrors obviously.

D3 uses a pretty generic fold module, same as the FL1 and loads of Fords, so could be made to power fold when locking with some wiring modifications. The fold module simply needs to have it's control wire grounded for it to fold the mirrors, but again the mirrors need to be power fold type. But no it wasn't a factory feature.

Strange how the D3 didn't get CJB control of mirror folding, when the similar age and cheaper FL2 did have power fold via CJB control on the SE spec and above. :confused:
 
The owner's manual I downloaded does indicate the power folding mirrors are an option so it is possible I don't have them but this particular car is an HSE with quite a few options:
premium leather, premium stereo, cold climate package and adaptive bixenon headlights so I would think the previous owner would have specified them. I do have the fuse for them, F16, and it is good. I need to look for the power fold module. Supposed to be located in the CJB. Is that in the engine compartment?

Nope. That is the memory control module. The mirrors run through that because their position can be memorized along with the seat position. There is a foldback module that looks like a relay and that is said to be in the CJB, central junction box. I will take a look at the two fuse boxes. Not sure if it is on the fuse box itself or just in the area.
 
Plus a wiring diagram of the folding mirrors, as a side note the CJB is ur passenger side fuse box that’s behind the glove box

Even though the diagram i checked for RHD points to the next one... anyway it's a whole mess with LR diagrams so if you dont find the 0907L connector check for the R version too, i can't figure out which is for RHD or LHD

D3 not as simple as you think, some people on the D3 forum did modify them, but it involved an additional relay and they could get out of sync with the lock/unlock bit especially if double clicking the fob to switch the internal sensors off.
I think it is the same as fitting the range rover nav screen, great idea but to many downside to make it worth the effort.

I did it with my FL1, which uses pretty much the same controller.
It works best with multi-point opening, or the mirrors close again on the second lock.
I used a timer relay which ignored the second press if it occurred within 1 minute of the initial unlock button press.
I can't see why the D3 would be any different.
Definitely easier with a D4 or FL2 though, as the CJB handles the mirror fold operation.

great find ref the diagrams , alas for the life of me I couldn’t find that one , I think the L or R are indications of RHD and LHD with the letter at each number

Thanks for the diagrams. Are these from an electrical manual you downloaded? I have downloaded a service manual which is a bit awkward as it is multiple files, each for various systems. I don't think it has anything like these diagrams though. Looks like "component location" information similar to what is in the P38 electrical manual.

I had a look at CJB and I see I have the socket but nothing in it. Will have to see how much one costs. I would like to have this working more than my parking sensors. Always like to fold the mirrors on my RRSC when in parking lots or at home so would be nice if I could do this in the LR3
 
Good to see @sierrafery and my diagrams were useful to u

Personally with a multimeter would start going through it to ensure the Vdc are ok , have also seen bad earths or bad connections that can cause issues , putting a multimeter each side of connections to ensure voltage is passing through them, earths posts and terminals I use a dremel with a wire brush attachment, then using some coppaslip of reassembly

a test light is also very useful as at least now having the wiring diagrams can go through the loom step by step

Also found this @Gord Wedman which I hope is useful to u in case after getting them working and are out of calibration

Plus read that fuse no. 54 can sometimes reset them, but of course know urs arnt working at all , just wished to share the info in case it’s useful further down the road

Summary:
A customer may complain of any of the following conditions:
1. Memory mirrors in the incorrect position after unlocking and entering the vehicle.
2. Memory mirrors not returning to their correct driving position after a reverse
manoeuver has been completed and the gear selector has been moved out of reverse.
3. On vehicles with manual transmission, if the gear position is left in reverse and the
ignition switched 'OFF' (and the vehicle enters sleep mode) when the ignition is next
switched 'ON' and the gear selector moved away from reverse, the mirrors incorrectly
remain in the dipped position. On the next reverse gear cycle the mirrors will recover and
will return to the correct driving position.
4. On vehicles with the 'Lazy Entry' feature enabled, the following sequence will result in
the mirrors incorrectly moving to the dipped position:
a) Ignition 'ON'.
b) Select reverse gear - mirrors move to dipped position.
c) Ignition 'ON' - auxiliary.
d) De-select reverse gear - mirrors move to driving position.
e) Lock the vehicle.
f) Unlock the vehicle - mirrors move to the dipped position (INCORRECT).
5. On vehicles with the lazy entry feature enabled, there is an issue with the normal
driving position drifting. Repeating the following sequence for a number of cycles will
result in a drift:
a) Ignition 'ON'.
b) Select reverse gear (mirrors move to dipped position).
c) Deselect reverse gear (mirrors move to driving position).
d) Ignition 'ON' - auxiliary - key-in - key-out.
e) Lock the vehicle.
f) Unlock the vehicle.
g) Key in - auxiliary.
6. On vehicles with manual transmission, if the gear position is left in reverse (mirrors
dipped) and the ignition is turned 'OFF'. If the ignition is then turned 'ON' and the engine
cranked, and the gear selector is moved out of reverse (whilst still cranking), the mirrors
do not return to the driving position.
NOTE: All other mirror issues other than those described in the Summary will require
further investigation. To be carried out as a separate Warranty Claim.
NOTE: The mirrors may be repositioned using the normal mirror adjustment functionality.
Cause: Some sequences of ignition cycles/gear positions (involving reverse) can cause
the control software within the seat module to become confused and loose the
mirror memory position, or learn an incorrect driving position.
Action: Should a customer express concern, install a new driver seat module.
