Having a problem with the electric drivers seat on my Discover 3 HSE. The seat controls all work (forward & backward, up & down, recline & straighten and the memory function works as well). However periodically when I'm driving the seat decides to move back to its furthest extent (the height and rake do not change neither does the door mirror setting and steering wheel position). The time lapse between me setting the seat to my preferred position and it re-setting itself varies considerably from a few minutes to half an hour +.

When it happens occasionally I can use a memory button (all 3 set to the same position) to reset it or do it manually. When I've reset it it can go for the rest of the trip without moving or it moves forward and then immediately returns to the far back position. By playing with the switches I can usually get it back to where I want it. However it could be dangerous if it moves while cornering etc. not to say b????? annoying.

Any one got any ideas/ answers please

1/ are u using the same key every time plse
2/ have u checked underneath the seat, where the connector block is, watch the yellow one as that’s ur seat airbag
3 / what year is it
4/ check for any loose wires in the seats ecu which is under the drivers seat cushion

as u look under the seat u will see a black connector box with wires going into it, with a bolt in the middle , think it’s 6 or 7 mm, make sure that’s nice and tight , yellow wire indeed as i mentioned is ur seats airbag so what ever u do don’t pull the connector block apart with the battery still connected

the ecu is indeed accessible from the front of the drivers seat

if after you’ve checked all the wires for loose connections etc , it’s best to get a code reader onto it, it could be the case of the seats ecu is faulty but best to get it plugged in

another thought , u could as a temp measure get the seat set up just how u want it and unplug the switch pack wires , it cant move then , is normally 3 x black wires that come from the switches that are on the side of the seat , that way the seat can’t get any power and make it safe for now, or even easier pull the seat fuse

as i’m also wondering if any water etc may have got onto the switches, as it’s only a circuit board there, even heard of spiders web on the back that can cause issues

so try the connector is nice and tight and then inspect and unplug the seat switch pack, at least it will stop it being dangerous for now until u get it looked at further with a code reader as u can also turn things on and off with them

oh and check the wires coming from the switches to the motors, making sure none of them are trapped and rubbing against the metal etc or chaffed through

if at the end of the day all the wires are ok and code reader doesn’t show anything , removed and open the back of the seat ecu , look for may black burn marks on the circuit board

Checked everything I can see/touch under the seat. I'll give it a few days to see if the problem is resolved

Still got the problem. Just blew the switches and circuit board over with an air duster to see if it does anything. If not the I'll disconnect the supply to the controls

thks for the update

indeed for safety , disconnect those connector plugs from the seats switch pack, plse make sure u don’t disconnect the connector with the bolt in the middle with the battery still connected due to ur seat air bag

best thing would be to have the codes read as it can then test if ur memory ecu is ok
