hi all.i just bought another 300tdi disco,it had no radio fitted so i put one in but cant figure out how to get5 the elecric areial to work.its raised at the moment but i just know that as soon as i take it green laning the areial isnt going to last 5 mins.does anyone know how i can get it to operate?thanks,Andy

Fit a rear glass arial or look for the motor and fit a separate switch

Thanks for that. I was thinking about fitting a switch bud wOndered if the arieal power wires were in the connector block in the back of the radio

There is only one wire, usually blue on modern head units which is live only when the head unit is switched on.
As we don't know what head unit you have you will have to check for a switch output from the unit, or use an independant 12v supply as already stated.
A wing mounted electric powered aeriel uses that supply but the aerial is raised or retracted via a switch and relay so turn the unit on and upgoes the aeriel..

If your planning any off roading fit a rubber type arial like i did then it wont break and you wont have to worry about the electrics

Thanks all. It's a Sony stereo, it's the wire from the arieal that I'm looking for. I do some greenlaning, that's why I could do with sorting it so that I can get the areial to retract, just dont know which wire in the blocks that plug into the stereo is for it
