I've recently fitted a £3.95 EGR blanking plate to my TD5 manual Discovery and, considering the cost, the difference is quite phenominal. Acceleration is slightly more keen but, more importantly, fuel consumption has dropped dramatically. Normally, it costs me circa £80 to fill the tank and the reserve light comes on 540-560 miles later. Well, I've just used my first tank with the blanking plate fitted and the reserve light has just come on at 655 miles, bloody fantastic!
So to anyone thinking of fitting one of these, do it; easy to fit, cheap to buy and it will pay for itself within the first 1/3rd tank of diesel.
My only question to the experts is this: Do I have to remove it at MOT time so that it'll pass or can I leave it in situ?
