hi just seen some egr removel kits for sale ,blanking plates ,are they any good ,ive a 300tdi auto 1996 ,mpg not good at the mo ,done a service still no better just thought 1 of these may help ,thanks for ant advice ,cheers
dude, i blanked my egr on my 97 300tdi 90 i also put the decat pipe in and i can tell you it is like a different motor... smoother with better power delivery and a marginal increase in mpg
Blanked mine and also cleaned the inlet manifold and intercooler . Still got the cat on although I have removed the viscous fan , so all the mods give smoother power delivery
it worked good on mine, also removed an cleaned out inlet mani, runs soo much better turbo kicks in good an better mpg, been thinking about decat as they are dirt cheap on ebay an i can get £30 ish if i weigh the old cat in plus as mines a 94 i dont need cat for mot...
you can use defender non cat 300 tdi down pipe £15ish ,egr just put a tin gasket with no hole between egr and manifold costs nothing, down pipe esr2297 straight fit, added advantage is that you dont have to use front chassis mount as has no flexi
if you are going to fit the EGR then take the time to do it right!
fit the blanking plate and ditch the whole EGR assembly, fit a new top inlet hose without the spur, remove and clean out the intercooler and inlet plenum. change the air filter
Just had the MOT done on my 51 plate TD5 disco. De- Egr'd , De-catted and tuned by dynachip. Sailed through the MOT with better figures than last year pre the mods. Think it is post 2001 that it is needed but could be worng.
