I"ve just ordered an EGR blanking plate for my 96 300tdi. Do I have to change the top hose as I"ve read on another thread or not ?

Cheers

it depends where you blank it...

if you just slip in the plate and keep the egr mechanisim then no, but get a new top hose, blank it on the manifold and ditch the whole egr...

get some WD40 on the bolts now before the plate arrives!

Tope hose? that sounds a bit fishy to me. I was keen to take the whole thing off and throw it in the bin. I cut the branch pipe off the intercooler pipe and welded a patch over it. You can get a 200TDi intercooler hose otherwise which will fit.

Thanks mate. Ditching the complete EGR won"t cause any problems then? I"ve already been spraying WD40 for two days now in anticipation!!!

Well the EGR blanking kit arrived today:) Just one question. If I get rid of the EGR completely what do you do with the vacuum pipe & electrical connector block attatched to it) Do you just block the pipe & tie them both out of the way?
Thanks in advance
