EGR Diagnosis needed:
TD5 Discovery with power upgrade and (supposedly) 82K. Very fast and economical but there's an irritating mid-pitched noise and vibration from the engine that feels like something loose or spinning on its own, possibly an ancillary bearing, and a tendency for the revs to lurch at low speeds - its either on or off. Several mechanics have found no fault with it but it doesn't feel or sound like my last one (which I should never have sold).
Comments posted here suggest it might be the EGR valve stuck open/shut. Does this sound likely ? Does a faulty EGR cause vibration and noise ?
