there's an article named 'power broking' in :

August 2012 - MAGAZINE on landroveraddict

be about uprating a TD5 .. including EGR removal

no mention of dashboard lights :)

the article mentions 2 types of egr systems for the td5 ..

ends with the caution note:

especialy with older engines, there is a real risk of at least one of the 2by5mm allen bolts shearing off when trying to undo.

to reduce the risk ..

1) only work when the engine ( and thus the exhaust manifold ) is cold
2) apply copius amounts of releasing oil, preferably a full day before attempting to undo them
3) apply localised heat using a heat gun to help break the sealed thread

Hd3 awesome thanks very much for finding that out and the Cation note ............. im a magnet for the shearing of bolt-ness lol

Sorry for jumping in, but I've just got a blanking kit for my discovery 300Tdi and was wondering if you need to use any gasket sealant on the blanking plate? Thanks.

If you've got a cat defiantly don't use any!!! Get a gasket! Or make one

Shouldn't get lights on dash as long as you leave vac valve wiring connected and blank off the vac pipes!

Mine came with a gasket, I just wondered whether I'd have to give it a smear of hermatite or something?

Did mine today but blanked the EGR, rather than completely remove it. Didn't really notice the difference until I looked at the speedo! And no more changing up and down the gears all the time to keep the revs up.👍
