I know the subject of EGR removal is a well posted subject, with varying degrees of result.

Yesterday I removed the the EGR unit, replaced it with a 'straight through' fitiing, blanked off the exhaust manifold end and removed the pipe from 'exhaust to inlet manifold'. Didn't get the chance to test it yesterday.

Went out this morning (forgot about the EGR removal), pulled out of my gravel drive, waited for a gap in the traffic, foot on the floor. BLOODY HELL!

I shot off in a cloud of dust and gravel, the difference was unbelievable! Prior to EGR removal the vehicle had the acceleration of a Morris Minor van I had many years ago (0 to 50 in 10 minutes), I assumed this was how a TD5 was, how wrong I was.

The EGR was encrusted with thick gooey tar so I doubt that it worked anyway. At some point I will remove the inlet manifold and clean that out, all that goo cannot be good for the engine.

would pay to take the intercooler off as well, and fill it with brake cleaner, leave it to soak for a few hours and then see what colour comes out of it...

good news...

...now go and give it the proper once over: flush the **** out of the intercooler, clean the all the marmite from the inlet plenum, clean the mass air flow meter, and fit her with a new air filter... then see how she dances!

Anything else... like to make to-do lists :) Also any other little extras which are cheap and easy to add and make things better? (done cruise control and heated windscreen)

Done the de-egr... need to clean it all up though as i also had the marmite inlet and probably worth cleaning the intercooler

TBH the best money I ever spent on my TD5 was a performance fuel remap on the ECU.

now...

... if you know a man with a nanocom, who's had thiers chipped, and knows how to transfer the fuel map and who likes alot of beer...

'if Carlesberg did land rover engines'

Clean the MAP in the inlet manifold, it's be covered in crud as well.

It could be arranged, I dont have a nanocom to hand but I have the chipped TD5. and we head your way occasionally

Why not park up in the carpark at the bottom of Stannage with a flask and your bonnet open, you'll have it done within the day :D
