First impressions after doing the following:
cleaned the intercooler
cleaned the EGR
cleaned the MAF electrical contact cleaner (looked clean anyway)
cleaned intake manifold as best I could. What are those bloody silly star bolts with nipple things anyway? That must be the one tool set I don't have.

It certainly seems to pull with a bit more urgency. The acid test will be in the morning when it's stone cold. It didn't have enough torque to pull the skin off a rice pudding the other day
PS.
I found that the last work by a garage they swapped 3 of the intake manifold nuts for 13mm nuts - tut tut, which were only finger tight as well. Also found that 2 of the return injector pipes were only on by about 2 mm and not fully pushed home. New problem just wating to happen? Cynic that I am......

I agree, but I had to see how full of crap it all was and then clean it out.
On a different tack: the rear window has vent's. Mine had some funny high density black foam that didn't quite fit the holes. So I'm guessing that might be where the exhaust fumes are swirling in from in the vacuum at the back of the car. I cut some polystyrene that has filled the gaps and no more fumes. Are these vents filtered normally or not fellas?

Thanks mate. That will explain the exhaust fume problem then. I have blocked the vents completely - no more fume ingress. Need to find the vents & flaps now.
Can you buy the o-ring that goes round the rear wiper motor spindle seperately? I had the car washed the other day and it rained inside hahahaha
I have to open the windows! I can't turn the heaters off as the buggered blend motors keep it hot all the time! Not too bad now it's cooling down in the mornings though :clap2:
I have replacement blend motors - that's my next project for this week.
So, where can I get the flaps for the back vents from then mate?

Sorry, think I've missed a bit of this. Why is the EGR not needed? Is there an advantage to doing away with it? I understand that the easiest way is to pull the wee rubber pipe off and the plug it, but why? and is it a good thing to do. Thanks
