Hi,
Can someone help / advise?
I have a 2010 LR4 and have owned it for almost 6 years. It’s a 3.0L SDV6 HSE.
In the last several months i have had to have an engine oil coolant repaired and more recently a cracked inlet manifold on the drivers side.
Shortly after driving off, after having the inlet manifold replaced, I could smell fumes inside the cabin.
Having had this diagnosed there is an issue with the EGR Exhaust Pipe, I was quoted £3,886.00 inc VAT to have the issue repaired / resolved, I have been told the body needs to come off!?!. Having spent circa £4K on the car in the past several months I really want to avoid any more major expenditure and i hoped someone could advise me if there is a more economical way of doing the repair, and if they know of anyone who could do this repair in the Gtr Manchester area?
Any advice / suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Matt

Get a second opinion.
Hi Nodge68,
I have had someone else take a look at this and a more detailed diagnostic has been carried out. Effectively I require 2 new EGR valves and replacement exhaust manifold gaskets too.
I have been quoted similar to previous stated above.
I have looked at a few videos on YouTube and although the work looks fiddly it does not look like it equates to the prices quoted. If I take the materials out (£600.00 inc VAT), I can’t see why the labour comes in at what it does, around £3,100.00. Also, I gather that the gaskets can be replaced at the same time as the EGR replacements, so there should be a saving on labour too?
Do you know of anyone or know someone who might know someone who could do this work and at a more reasonable price?
Thanks
M
