hi, is it possible to make up an egr blanking kit from odds and sods ?
It looks pretty simple .has anyone done it .
Im going to have a go tomorrow anyway and hopefully get rid of the cat as well .
Any tips would be appreciated .:D

gonna do mine tommorow too mate i got a blanking plate off ebay going to slip that between the two flages and bolt the valve back on top..did think about trimming up a bit of waste metal but took the lazy option

I have just done an egr removal about 10 mins ago, bought a kit from ebay and removed the whole pile of crap, going for a test drive in a minute but lookign at the design on mine not only did it dump dirty spent air into the air flow it also curtailed the turbo air with a big butterfly valve, what a pile of s**t all gone now nice clean air and great air flow.

what do you do with the elec connecter if you lobe the lot,is it ok unplugged or does it cause probs..

The kit I used had rubber blanks for the egr control block, although I imagine small screws / silicone etc would do the job...I haven't experienced any problems at all, much improved on acceleration, overrun and economy. (Td5)

only just did mine so no idea yet, was excpeting better air flow but what sort of eco improment are you seeing?

I did this ona 300tdi a few moths ago, I just unbolted the egr, used the gasket as a template and made my own and slipped it between the egr and manifold. Job done. Give the intercooler a good clean aswell, it will be full of ****, and that's when you'll notice the difference.

blanked mine at the manifold, replaced top hose with a straight through one and slung the lot

Overall I reckon a couple of mpg extra, I expect this to improve once I get round to cleaning out my I/C and inlet manifold. I was gutted when I saw the amount of ****e in the egr. Although I will be soaking it in paraffin and sticking it on ebay though :D

Lets face it, with the ****e that gets sold on ebay there's gotta be SOMEONE out there with

1. A Td5 with a duff EGR
2. No clue
3. A paypal account.

Oh, and it's free listing this sunday :D

good idea think i will stick mine up as well, got nothing to loose just baouts to go and test drive mine now since the mod.

Might be worth hanging on to your old one on the offchance the MOT regs change in a few years. EGRs will be like rocking horse doo-doo...
