I am only interested in Hiclone cos its the way i have been pointed, but issues your pointing out are grateful. However, if you go on Hiclone websie u will see a link to Landrover world who have tested, with great results

Your not related to that prat Dfenda off the LRUK forum are you He's been pretending to be a happy hiclone customer as well. If they did half the things that Hiclone claim every manufacturer would fit them. But they don't. Instead they spend millions on R&D trying to achieve what HiClone claim to be able to do for about £2.

Spot on!
Have a look at the 2.5 NA and 19J cylinder heads, with amazing separate INdirect injection combustion chambers, all worked out by clever people, and LOTS of research and trials. Easy to make, easy to start, efficient, and quite nice to drive.

But those all had a problem - Pumping losses especially at higher revs.

So "back to the drawing board" ...... and they designed direct injection cylinder heads, with combustion taking place IN the pistons! The problem was that pistons don't get as hot as would be ideal for aiding combustion, so they added that extra bit, the spigot with the steel tip, and that gets VERY hot, and does the business. Now we have no pumping losses, but the benefits of injection onto very hot parts.

Surley if you wanted to spend some money at the same time as the EGR blank. You'd take off the inlet manifold, soak it overnight in petrol to remove the mollasses crap and spend your hard earned on a new gasket for refitment!

I was astounded at all the black marmitey gunge that came out of my manifold. I soaked it in Jizer for a few hrs and then blasted it with a steam cleaner. I'm sure it weighed half as much after.

And they say the fitted the EGR to cut down on pollution!

HA HA HA!

Got a 1995 300tdi auto. Been getting a bit sluggish lately. Just fitted a EGR blanking plate. Easy to do and what a difference. Best half hour I've spent working on the beast for a long time.
Cheers

Wait till you clean out the inlet manifold.
Then you'll know what a mess that EGR thing makes inside engines.
