I just cleaned the plastic front manifold, the oil will still return but at least you won't get the carbon build up in the (now redundant) EGR valve. I also renewed all the intercooler hoses making sure the long one is no longer rubbing on the front manifold screw and brkt.

cut a piece of the old hose, split it along its length, wrap it round the new one where it rubs.

secure with cable ties, nylon ok but stainless better (but pricey, dint pay for the stainless ones myself, use them at work)

Cheers, I just cut a small piece off the original and glued it in place but you can position the hose so it doesn't rub on the screw (mines the one which comes with the sensor included in the intercooler pipework)
 
Just ordered a set of silcone intercooler hoses to do at the same time as my egr bypass. Just wish I could afford the synergy 2 as well. Maybe after next payday. ;)
