I've just removed my egr valve and fitted a blanking kit and what a difference.
No black smoke and it pulls a lot more quicker than it ever did before.
Real easy as well.

If you have a Jap Import, as I do, then the EGR is water cooled so in addition the parts mention above you have the pleasure of replacing/rerouting a couple of water hoses.
I've left mine blanked for now but plan to remove it completely soon.
This could be true for all EDC/Auto Discos rather than just imports.
Did mine yesterday as lower turbo hose was delaminating. Already had blank kit here. Found it easier to di pipes with egr gubbins out the way. Did however snap the top bolt so drilled and tapped a new hole in blank kit and block!!
much more space in engine bay without gubbins. More light getting in for jobs underneath.
Hi,
Quick question I'm about to get a blank to got on the EGR valve, leaving it in place. If removed totally, which is really what I want to do, would mr MOT man get the hump? If he want to see one I'll just blank the exhaust port, and put the valve back on

Not a fail on mot BUT it is a vehicle mod which if you were to be super anal should be declred on insurance. Yes nobody does! Insurance companies are wise to undeclared mods so leave egr on and blank it. At least its still fitted then!
