further to flood damage ( see my other post ) it appears that the major problem was the ecu under the drivers seat getting wet, it has been removed and an atempt is being made to dry it out, assuming this is possible will it need resetting/reprogramming by lr what other info should i know that i can pass on to the mechanic ??

Dry the BECM out slowly, say in the airing cupboard for a couple of days then refit and see what happens. BECM's have Mosfets and I.C.'s which hate static and shorts, you may be lucky. If it can be reset, you will need the Lockset Code which is a 13 digit sequence specific to your vehicle. This can be obtained by your main stealer, you will need proof of ownership etc. Classic symtoms of BECM faults are rear wiper not working, phantom bulb failure messages and sometimes vehicle immobilisation. Downside is-new BECM, installed-around £700. Other ECU's are plug & play and not vehicle specific, provided they come from the same type (e.g. Diesel) and "Hardware"
Best of luck-keep us posted

see my link to Reman in my font of all knowledge thread for a company that does remanufactured ECU's and BECM for a lot less than £700.

I was quoting a new BECM for guidance. BBA Reman will repair the original-if possible, admittedly for less than the new cost. There are also other Companies, e.g. Carelect who also offer a repair service.
If the other ECU's are shot, probably cheaper to get them from a breakers-with a return option-if faulty, than having the faulty one repaired.

thanks guys, the ecu etc have been removed and dried and cleaned and refitted the car is now on its way to lr4u in honiton to have all the neccasary checks and resetting done i'm hoping this is successfull and then i'm left with the interior clean up wich isnt as badly affected as first thought by the looks of things the water probably only came up to under seat height, although one of the rear windows undid itself which obviously let in a bit of rain and hail i,ll keep u posted as to how things go

Good for you. The BECM can be f***ed by over zealous interior valet services flooding it with loads of soap & water. Hopefully, if the water level did not reach it you may get away with it.
Best of luck and hope the fix doesn't cost too many Euros, Pounds, Dollars, Yen etc.etc. - OOps forgot the Zlotys and other "Funny" money including the Black Country sort!!!!!

Slight side-track here ... are Landrover 4U in Honiton a decent independent LR garage as they're only about 30 miles from me in Bridport, and I desperately need to know where my nearest half decent independent is?

Thanks, Brian
