Can the ECU be removed completely from wireing without affecting anything like immobiliser/ ignition etc. I want to disconnect both black and red plugs to check and clean them. I know the red one can be but what about the black.

No probs as long as the battery is disconnected... which usually must be otherwise the ECU is hard to be removed

Thank you. I'll do that after work and give them both a good clean on contacts.
