Hi, whilst gaining access to the glow plug relay so that I could obtain the part number, the ecu touched the positive terminal of the battery, now the glow plug light doesn't come on at all, have I knackered the ecu or relay or both? Any help greatly appreciated.

Most likely:eek:

Ok so before I buy a new ecu and/or relay is there any way of confirming which one is shot, I've no idea how to test a relay, the ironic thing is that the glow relay probably was ok, the low voltage at the plugs was maybe because the battery was low because the rf receiver has been going absolutely crazy recently, indicators flashing regularly like some sort of rave pardon the pun. I am at your mercy lol.

Connect it all back up, give it a squirt of easy start and see if it will run. It should start without the glowplugs with easy start. Otherwise diagnostics.

Didn't start with easystart so must be ecu i guess, there's no engine management light coming up on ignition either.

Can't seem to find an ecu ERR7112, the engine originally had an egr but it was removed, could I use a non-egr engine ecu? Cheers, Gaz.

Don't think so as there is still the MAF input to the ECU.....

Now I don't want this post to be a catalyst for the whole EGR/MAF arguement again...just stating that the ECU may be different is all....:)

If it has a MAF, it needs the correct ECU.
OP have you checked all the fuses?

If you get stuck I have a spare ECU pm me if you find it is ECU you need :)

Pm'd. If I manage to source an ecu and/or relay, is it just a case of plug and play or does it have to be programmed to the car? Many thanks to everyone.

Engine ECU will need to be synced to the BeCM and vice versa

Didn't somebody do this last year and put an earth from ecu and it worked again??
Just rings a bell to me but then I hear all sorts in my head lol

Sorted! Many thanks to mark1971, connected a wire from the ecu casing to a mounting bolt on the body and she works again.
