not ****part i wont accept them and it does work as i didnt tighten connection up enough and it ****ed everywhere, there is no scum on the old pump filter.
just a thought with timing.
another thing it has been doing (just remembered) on max revs 2000k sometimes there is a little knock dont know where from.

There might be no scum on the old filter, but there might well be on the new one if you got a tank of dirty fuel. You say it happened after you filled up.

yes it was running fine till then, idle was a bit lumpy but ive put that down to a leaking injector, as its not lumpy now, ill phone BP station to ask if anybody else has a problem.

in post link under no power a few days ago
basically i stopped to get diesel a few days ago and i had no power leaving fuel station (still ran ok on idle and still does) ,i checked turbo hoses there good spill pipes are new and all are connected tight and are dry,new filter, new intank fuel pump, injector nearest to the radiator was leaking so i replaced it with one i was given (new). it will rev while static to 2000rpm max with grey smoke on acceleration and black on deceleration, it will drive but only on idle but if i try to accelerate it will cut out as if its starved of fuel, then take a while to start again, when it does this it will prime the fuel system but not fully. i cant find fuel leaks anywhere to let air in or leak fuel out.

a friend of mine has suggested timing, i can remember reading somewhere that the engine needs to be timed every 40k,is this true and could it cause this?
Well I had a similar fault a while back would idle but not accelerate if you tried, it would cut out and make a clicking noise on top where the actuator is on top of fip until you turn ignition off and then back on and noise disappears ,it would start again. Only just driveable if kept under 2 k,this went on for days I noticed if I tried next day when cold all was fine until it warmmed I also notice when decelerating it would have a very slight hang in the revs hardly noticeable but there,an enlightment I got me pump done because it was leaking the top part is not part of the pump ( electrics ) is not part of the rebuild it more clean, new seals and pressure checking the units, my problem ended when I got a secondhand actuator it turned out to be sticking quiet a regular problem from what I've heard, I would of thought if your timing was bad then you would have trouble starting and running rough, so basically if your getting this delayed pause when you press the pedal yours is more than likely jamming, was the replacement a new one ??

that sounds exactly like my problem with a little hanging in the revs aswell, the actuator is a new one that is currently on £330 worth, old actuator is definitely going on tomorrow and ill let you know.

If the new actuator worked fine for 6 months, why would it pack up working so suddenly?
The first test should always be to see if you are getting a good flow of fuel through. Still if you want to eliminate the hard stuff first so be it.

I was getting to that should still be under warranty if fitted by garage...,

it looked new as it was clean with no marks wrapped in wax paper in original box, i fitted it, i did markings but they were a little different when i got it set up.

Well sounds new if it were a bosh box ? What made you change it 6 months ago not sure if you can get warranty if you fitted it ?? Anyone know?? If not send back for testing ..so why was it changed 6 months ago???

no throttle response occasionally when hard accelerating on motorway, lift off and back on it was ok.my local landy independent told me this while on the motorway while plugged in.if i remember it was a plain brown box.

Thank you I am surprised the new one has failed so soon , trouble
Is if your old one was faulty your back to square one,all I can say is if your old one is usable and where you bought it is willing to send it back to the supplier then go for it . As long as you know that your in tank is feeding the fip there are no leaks or air and all injectors are being fed, then go for it IMO

there is fuel to all injectors ive checked, if old actuator works ill take it back and ask for it to be tested he boasts on his website to be on top of his game, and it was a really busy place, so presume he will at least test it. thanks for your help ill let you how i get on.

I don't think he can test the unit probably only bosh ..but go have a chat about it.

I always thought the FIP was the black thing that the fuel filter screwed on to and where the fuel hoses connected. Since we are talking £600+ it can't be.

That would be the fuel heater. I'm pretty sure all that does is warm the diesel up a little on it's way to the FIP. Makes sense in cold weather when derv can get a bit waxy.

tried actuator no difference but i did notice alot of rusty coloured sludgy stuff is this the bacteria you were on about datatek

Colour varies but yes sounds likely:eek: Pig of a job to get it out of the FIP if it's got past the filter.
Or it could be from the bottom of the garage's diesel tank and be a mixture of water, diesel and iron oxide.
They won't tell you if anyone else has had the problem, it would leave them open to litigation
