well i've pretty much decided to leave it, something has to be not quite right on a land rover, may stop something else deciding not to work anymore.

the sunroof tilts then opens couple inches and stops. will continue open with a shove, partly on its own partly with help, and closing is similar, will close fully but stops in same place on shutting and needs a shove.

Having seen the kits on ebay i'm assuming its also plastic parts, and the cogs are probably worn hence stopping and needing a shove.

haynes manual won't give instructions on removal or refitting, except go see your landy main stealer

is it worth bothering with, very fiddly complicated job apparantly, seeing the parts schematic on ebay listing is scary, and its about 40 all in for both kit and new seal while your're in there lol

i have air con and decent fuel consumption, so would regas if needed and use that anyway.
plus i can always tilt and slide back the couple of inches if hot and parked.

so all in all, unless i want everything perfect which i do, its bearable. and to be honest, just how much use will it get lol.

anyway what would you do, freelander 1 2001 everything works as it should except the above lol

Good question I have the same issue and was told it could be the seal as I also have a damp drivers side carpet.
Look forward to the answer.

this is the kit

and the seal, look at the schematic, unless you HAVE to do the seal, probably best left alone looking at that pic lol

seal about 12.84 with postage on fleabay

I'd make sure that the drains are clear. Kill any rust found on the frame or runners then close the roof correctly and unplug the motor. For additional protection I'd unplug the switch too. Then forgot that the vehicle has an opening roof. I've use this same routine on the Freelanders I've owned.

yes to the above, sealed mine up and forgot about it....more trouble than they are worth, if you want air drop the back window.

well its not leaking, well not yet so will just tilt and slide back a few inches and use like that if need be.

intend getting the rear door guard for the dogs anyway so as you say drop the window lol

Good idea on not using the sunroof, will do that but as said may need to replace the seal on the glass sunroof before I ignore it.

I looked at a Freelander last night as I'm looking to buy another. The one I saw last night had a tilt only sunroof. I've never seen one of those before. It worked too. I'd have bought the car if the guy wasn't being a dreamer on the price.

lol,

landrover repair kit = gaffa tape and wd40, if it moves and it shouldn't tape it, if it dosn't move and it should oil it. lol
