While looking for a second alarm bleeper for my defender I realised how easy it is to disable the alarm/immobiliser (in seconds).
what is the best way to protect or disable the com port to make it more difficult for thieves?

P.m me if you dont want the idea seen by theiving gits on an open forum.

Depends how keen you want to be. I had a friend who set some bike security chain in the concrete of his drive, and padlocked it to the drive round the front axle.

A large dog kept in there works or rig it to the mains if you want to give them a shock :p literally

Put it in a cargo container, weld it shut then bury in a hole that is filled with concrete. They won't steal it but a pain in the ass to nip to the shops in

I was specifically asking for ideas to cover or relocate the ecu plug in point as this seems to be the weak point in the alarm/immobiliser.
I understand this wont stop someone winching it onto the back of a truck but if they need to brake in and get the disklok off, get it out of gear all with the alarm blaring then I'd like to make it as dificult as poss.

What about a transmission lock to prevent it being pushed or pulled, and some form of carport to prevent it behind hiabed!?

I don't know if the ecu pint is the weakest, without posting it on a public forum think about where the sounder and horn are located and start making them more difficult to get to. My ecu point is under the cubby box so you would need to unbolt that first

Also I think pedal locks are more secure than disk lock. The auto express test I saw had a disk lock off in under 2 mins without the use of power tools .

You all need some better gun laws over in England... coming out with a shotgun would probably make them run pretty fast

Our law allow reasonable force to be used, this includes the use of fire arms, in the event of burglary if they are armed. It’s likely you’ll get away with this if they are not armed as well. What we can’t use are automatic military assault weapons!!

This is well covered in other posts on the forum - but no, pedal lock is next to useless when used on its own.

As is a clutch lock, handbrake lock, gear lock, removable steering wheel and stoploc.

i used to have an ignition cut off (similar to a racing car) hidden under my dash. a quick flick of a switch and it wont start and unless you know what and where to look fairly effective.
