Ok, so as my D2 is tilted from the front at about 15 deg there is now water gathering towards the rear sunroof.

After looking at RAVE as I was thinking about putting new sunroof seals in, the prospect of removing the headlining is one job to many, so I'm thinking about sealing the sun roofs permanently !

So, my question is, if I seal them what is the easiest way ?

Cheers guys I want to keep them really but it seems a never ending list of jobs lol !!

Check how its leaking, mine was just the outer seal that needed a bit of silicon. You can check the drain plugs aint split/blocked without dropping the headling
 
I had same issue as you. Want to do them properly at some stage but havent got the time right now. Sealed them up with duct tape, very effective, easily removable and can only be seen from top deck of a bus.

Yeah, as soon as I can get my ACE front bar fitted, I can sit it normally, see what happens then :doh:
 
What we did to my mates is mask the edge of the plastic frame, also the roof at the edge of the frame and then lifted the edge a few mil with a couple of wedges and injected Isoflex into the seam, any excess was on the masking tape when the wedge was removed and so easy to be removed.

We also removed the glass seal cleaned and refitted it, all this was over three years ago still no leaks and the black Isoflex sealent can't be seen.

Dont use the bathroom type sealent as that just doesn't adhere to the paint.
 
Both mine leaked real bad. So taped them up years ago. But then at the start of this year I went for it and got 2 new LR seals from dealer . Still leaked! took all head lining out fixed drip lines . Still leaked !! Went to halfords got a 5.99 small tube of black sealant ,put a very small bead round sunroof trim were it meets the roof . Took less than 10minutes to do . NO MORE leaks :) simples. And with the rain we have had this year it's been well tested. If you open your sunroofs after its been raining and befor you move it you can often see the water sitting in the drip trays in the front corners off each sunroof .checking weekly is a good way of telling if your fix is working .and if your roofs are electric it's worth taking the motors out. They can be taken apart cleaned and oiled and refitted . Mine were both rusted up. But are now running smooth again . Gotta love a no cost fix :)

Nice.....so you rely on a bead of like silicon around the edge to provide a layer of waterproofing then ?
 
Yes , just one very small bead of black silicon . I did mine back in feb and have had not one drip in since . And mine leaked so bad water was just pouring in . It's not the right way to fix I know and it proberly will need doing again at some point , but for under a tenner and 10minutes to do its well worth I try . If you want I will look tonight in my garage and tell ya what silicon I used got it from halfords . Was just a little toothpaste tube with a pin hole nozzle . :)
 
Typical. Thought mine had all been sorted at the weekend . . but no, more leaks.

Next I'm going to try rubber washers on the torx screws holding the tray to the roof. Couple of the them had a fair bit of surface rust on and the old metal washers didn't look great.

I thought I had sorted mine at the weekend as well,still leaked when facing downhill,turns out it was the top corners of the windscreen where the drip rails end.I removed the plastic windscreen side trims(bastard to put back properly) and sealed up the sides of the screen and across the top rubberseal and touch wood yesterdays heavy rain didn't come in:D

Good stuff.

I have the opposite problem, only leaks when facing uphill which is how mine has to be parked to fit in the drive annoyingly. :mad:

I never thought of that! :rolleyes::D

No, very tight little lane and if the neighbours park their cars outside I have to do a reverse 3 point turn to get out the drive way, I wouldn't make it facing it the other way.

Definitely the rear. Front area is fine.

Drain pipes are clear, try is now sealed to the roof with Sikaflex. Going to try rubber washers which I think will work, if not I'll try sealing the plastic trim to the roof. Going to leave that until last because I'd rather keep it tidy on top if I can help it.
