Hi folks,

I’m pretty new to the P38 family and have a ‘98 4,6l Gems Auto which is currently having a silk with it’s EAS.

Im quite aware there will be trouble ahead, so I was looking for some advice on a diagnostic device.

I’ve been looking at the EAS unlock suite which, in the new, paid-for version seems fairly comprehensive but I wondered whether I ought to be considering nanocom or, indeed, any other devices / software which might fit the bill.

EAS unlock appeals as it’s a software download which I can get instantly
(And await postage of the cable -I have made a cable for use in the interim but can’t get the free EASunlock to work).

Any thoughts or advice most welcome !

cheers

Bob

Problems with EAS-Unlock are usually either USB-Serial drivers on windows, or bad connection in the diagnostic socket in the car. Also you need to have the EAS timer relay installed to allow the software to operate. The free version does everything you need to sort the suspension.

Longer term, save up for a Nanocom. It does everything, and fits nicely in the centre console cubby box !!

Quite a few members on here use the free EAS unlock software.

Holy moly... got the new serial adaptor and the EASunlock is speaking to the EAS but seemed to call up a litany of contradictory faults.

how do I clear them ?

Also... the pump seems to be covered in a light oil that I don’t remember being there before.

Any thoughts ?

Masses of faults usually bad comms.

Those are phantom faults from no comms

You're looking for a green "good idle" without this it won't work ;)

I think it’s all good on the diag for now, I made the cable and it’s good.
I’ve a burst air strut at the rear :(

Unlucky. I had that with a Dunlop bag once. Nothing in the car but hit a ****er of a pothole. Cap dislodged enough for a tiny leak.
