Check the OBD socket, both sides for corrosion, pin 16 is power and pins 4&5 are ground.check fuse 33 I think it is it's the only 5amp fuse in the under bonnet fuse box,it supplies the power to 16.

All 5a seem ok

I stand corrected,my 98 diesel manual only has one 5amp just looked at the manual I have for a 4.6 auto and it has a few.have you checked fuse 33 with a test lamp for power in and out of the fuse?

Shouldn't need to calibrate after changing bags but best get it working before you need it!

Are you using EAS Unlock V4 with the supplied cable or the free version? If using the free version with made up cable and USB to Serial converter it could be the cable or the converter. I had to try 3 different converters before I found one that worked. Purchased on Amazon, Dtech converter with FTDI chip set.

Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like there is some corrosion in the connector, the pins that matter for the EAS are 1; 5; 11 & 12. Fuses to check on the diesel are F24; F29 & F33.
I'll post the full cable details this evening or you can find them on the RSW web site, then you can check te cable with a meter.
FTDI adaptors generally work, but not all, some are configured for the X-on/X-off protocol which is not compatible with the EAS software.

I bought the cable and usb extension and usb drive from p38 spares on eBay supposedly all tried and tested I have tried to run this via the usb and via the serial port to no avail do any of you have a working set up as if your not too far from me I will drive over and we could prove it’s the car not the equipment !!

Left footwell connectors must be clean of green corrosion. Diag lines for EAS goes via these !!
  1. First disable Windows Updates (prevents MS installing their driver)
  2. With the USB-Serial plugged in to laptop:
    • Un-install the FTDI driver and if present un-install the Microsoft driver as well.
    • Then install only the FTDI driver
  3. Try connecting EAS-Unlock again.

EAS cable details, sorry it's a bit late, I did not have a photo.
Lack of RTS is the signal that usually stops the software working, generic drivers for USB to serial do not use this signal.

My pc literate friend says we have tried this already….. been at it for nearly 2 weeks just can’t get a read on it, I did bridge the relay for the pump that works ok and somehow managed to get all 4 air bags to std ride height but still with eas locked out.

Did you check left footwell connectors ? If diagnostic connector is clean, you still need good connection via C104 & C204 or EAS diagnostics will not work, and these are common corrosion points.

Also pin-1 needs to toggle the EAS Timer Relay when the software starts to connect. If this does not happen, it will not communicate. When it does toggle, you will get the beeps & EAS message from the instrument cluster.

Ahh I do get the beeps from the eas and instrument cluster as soon as I plug the cable in so that bit works but it’s as far as I get. It will be Sunday before I can get near it again I reckon.

Ok getting tired lol…. I can’t see corrosion on port but my eyesight is not gr8, definite beep when obd2 is plugged in but still no rx on system just the PP in the rx does anyone live in the north west England that has a definite good working system I could run up to you and plug in see what happens????
