hi guys abit of help recently bought range rover p38 with eas fault, currently the suspension ride height is sitting high on passenger side and on driver side sitting low on the bump stops now when i bought it guy said had all brand new bags fitted new pump new eas computor box.hes been told its simple electrical fault as he had it fully valleted and it started just after he had that done also when driving there horrible knocking noise cumming from under the box but goes away after 30mph help really needed

this is what its had so far new so any help would be greatfull

New BeCM plus mapping to the vehicle

New EAS controller

New EAS Pump and Solenoid Unit

New alternator

New Starter motor

New Air Bags

The knocking could just be a UJ. As to the other problems, if it's been valeted and stuff got wet, there coud well be a corrosion problem on the various connectors on the BECM and/or the EAS ECU. There are also connectors behind the trim in various places. Is the interior completely dry? If it's damp you are flogging a dead horse until it's dried out.

hi bud quick update had range rover guru out my dads my mate said he will convert air suspension to manual ride were i can pump it up my self is this great idea as he said loads people are doing it now to throw away eas as its nightmare said its mint conversion as all brand new air bags have been done, also knocking noise he believes 99% its a sleve connecting main drive to gear box said there common problem???

As an emergency measure, manual inflation is OK but it's daft to dump the EAS, it's a simple system and not difficult to fault find most of the time. I say again, if there is damp in the interiior then the EAS may be the least of your worries.

yea i understand what your saying datatek,i have been over the interior with fine tooth kome looking for damp and there is none on closure inspection the eas ecu has been open with its computor board out, when my friend came round with his daignostic gear he could not get access to eas ecu would let him in also the previous owner said there is break in cumunication with the eas ecu and the main bemc under driver seat thats why suspension isnt working would it be best just buying new eas ecu do i need to get it coded to the car cheers

Did your friend have diagnostic equipment capable of accessing the RR systems?.If so was he able to access any of the other ECM,s.
Before buying other ECU,s you need to narrow your diagnosis a bit.

ohhhhhh im not to sure he just pluged into 16 pin connection under passenger dash it give him fault readying saying new glow plugs were needed but when it cam to accessing eas ecu wouldnt let him is there special softwere that is needed ?

The only kit that will read the P38 faults is from BBS:D

You'll confuse the lad Datatek. Should read ''The only kit that will read the P38 faults apart from the EAS ECU is from BBS. - Fatty4x4 - see the previous post from the Hooded Claw. Before you can do anything, you'll need at least that.

You are right, I meant to say all the faults. RSW EAS suite is excellent for the EAS:D

cheers guys for all your help going in proper specialist place friday morning called northeastern 4x4 going on special machine to read all fault codes and found what may be the problem with transfer box the chains stretched due to previous owner going in puddle the transfer box might be stuck in hi/low gears and thats why its knocking untill you get to 30mph so hopfully it will be fine
