All,

I have seem to have a P38 4.6 "Pimp My Ride" RR!!!

When stationary, with the enigne ticking over, the EAS compressor seems to be continuously kicking in.

The front dips and the compressor kicks in, the front goes up, the compressor goes off, then the front dips again, and so on.

When doing this the front drops about 2 inches.

Reading through the operation I know that the rear rises first and drops second. This is so that the headlights do not not dazzle someone. So something is letting the air out, but what?

Overnight, the car is rock solid, only the expected drop every six hours.

No dropping to one end or side, or bump stops.

I replaced all four bags less than six months ago.

I've done the following checks:-

1) Wammers' "How to". Compressor and diaphragm ok (soon wont be though if this carries on!!!)

2) De-pressurized the tank and bags. Re-pressurized again - car rises as expected and no faults recorded.

3) Checked and re-seated front tubes into the bags.

4) Done soapy water checks - ziltch!

So, my thoughts are pointing me at the following:-

1) Pressure switch
2) One of the Non Return Valves.
3) A dodgy height sensor?

Any help would be appreciated.

cheers

Diagnostics first port of call. NRVs will not cause that. Dicky sensor might.

Driver pack maybe or as Wammers said a dodgy height sensor. Needs to go on diagnostics.

My advice would be to get some Snoop Dogg on the stereo and move to Compton.

Hi all,

And update:-

Been doing a bit of investigation and digging around whilst listening to Snoop Dog!!

I had kept a note the ride heights from when I first got the EAS software. I decided to reset the ride back to these original settings. It seems to have stopped the front pimping up and down! So it may not be a dicky sensor causing the pimp effect, just simply that I caused my own problem when trying to get the car to sit right, when actually I had leaky bags!!! All bags replaced a while back, but never re-checked/reset ride heights.

The pump still seems to be staying on for a long time (5-10 minutes) before stopping. It is also fairly hot (which would be understandable!!). However, now, rather than immediately starting up again, it has, on a couple of occasions been behaving itself and not coming on again for a while. I will monitor this over the next few days to be absolutely sure.

I am now armed with a second compressor (always good to have) and new pressure switch and intend to install them. Rather than hoping to fix the problem by doing this, my aim is to eliminate them.

Once I can eliminate the pressure switch I will look at the height sensors.

Cheers for now.
