Take your choice but i would not touch them with a barge pole. Diaphragm seal is ok but a little on the stiff side. Black piston seal is in my experience useless specially in cold weather.

Ok thanks just sorting my xmass stocking out :)

Just another thing that's bugging me in this photo what is the small oring for??? the large o ring and seal I understand for compressor.felt and sponge for air intake but the tiny o ring pictured on felt haven't a clue don't remember my air intake having a small oring and all other pictures I've seen of the piston seal and oring don't show the little one any. Ideas ?? Is it for air intake filter :)

Goes under the exhaust reed in the cylinder head.

They are not expensive and I prefer a trusted supplier to taking a punt on the unknown:D

+1 Keith..
I've dealt with Simon personally, and he has fitted parts for me in the past at his own house,he's 1 of the good guys on eBay and he's a fireman based near my house

Wammers :) this as we know this is our Dutch chap Range Rover P38 EAS Air Compressor Pump Seal - 2nd gen. | eBay the reason I asked about him is I heard/read about about the 1st seal they made, but have not seen anything since this 2nd generation piston seal has been produced .
I am just having a piston seal and o ring as a back up, fortunately I have not needed anything apart from bags as yet, but in looking into this kit or any of this nature, you mentioned the small reed valve o ring is this actualy disturbed when a replacement piston seal is being fitted as well as the o ring , or is it just a matter of coarse as your in there to replace the reed valve o ring ?? If so and then the O ring should come with all kits IMO. I have not tried to clean the filter as they seem cheap enough .. Over to you for your vast oracle of endless range rover dialogue of questions :D:D

Recently done mine (with advice heeded from Wammers). You wont disturb the small reed valve 'o' ring when fitting the piston seal, but I changed mine anyway as it came with the kit from Simon. You can clean up the reed valves as well while you have them removed.

As far as i am aware his second generation seal is the only one he has sold. A generation up from the Teflon seal fitted as standard. But my experience is that his seal is not as good. Many have reported it failing in cold weather. I have only ever fitted one and it failed after about three weeks. Whilst you have the compressor down it makes sense to replace the exhaust valve O ring. Secure it in it's seat with a very small amount of silicone sealant. Make sure the reed sits flush on it. And set the backing reed about 2 mm from the exhaust reed at the toe. The inlet reed should dead flat and sit flush on the head, no air gap between head and reed. If you hold it up to a lamp you can check this. Backing reed should be set with a slight gap at toe to allow inlet reed to move freely under suction, but not over flex. If you change the piston seal take out the piston and crank. Get hold of the lip of the seal with a good pair of pliers. Try pulling the seal out from between piston and retainer. If this works then get a sharp flat screwdriver and gently go round the retaining ring and lever it off the piston. If not just cut as much of the seal out as you can then use the screwdriver. Gently clean any burrs from the piston made by the retainer being pushed on. Very gently mind you don't want the retainer to be a sloppy fit. Put new seal on piston and press retaining ring back on to clamp it. It needs to be clamped firmly all the way round. I like to put four equally spaced pop marks just inside the joint of piston and retainer as insurance. To fit cylinder over piston present it at a slight angle push it over seal then twist square. One important thing when undoing allen screw that clamps crank to shaft make sure you use a good correct sized allen key, fully engaged using steady pressure. Usually 1/8". Using a 3 mm allen key will more than likely render the allen screw un-removable.
